Where to start???? This is a tough question since there are so MANY Lotr collectibles out on the market. We will start with the BEST on the market...which in my opinion is the reproduction Swords and Daggers. Now if your looking to purchase one, make sure you "shop around" because one reputable place may have the same sword for upwards of $100.00 CHEAPER than the next store!!! The Sting United Cutlery version was listed on one site as $235.00 and I also found it at a local shop for the same price, but after I researched the internet..I found it for $135.00!!! After I list various sword information, I will list sites to refer to if your interested in purchasing any of them. I will also mark those that I have personally purchased from (I can't guarantee that you will have no problems ordering from them, but I can say that I have never experienced any problems).
Two sword makers have been OFFICIALLY licensed to reproduce swords by New Line Productions. The first one is the most elite of the two: The Noble Collection. The Noble Collection swords are the pricest of the two, but will be the most collectible in years to come. Their swords are make in Toledo, Spain and are of the highest quality. Unfortunately, you can not comparison shop for The Noble Collection swords because they can only be purchased through their catalog or website. The Sting Sword is my personal favorite and it even come with a scabbard (sold separately), but if your into axes then your in luck!!!! They have a reproduction of Gimli's axe!! Make sure you check out their site:
The second officially licensed company is United Cutlery. They are producing just about every sword and dagger you can think of in Lotr. They are more reasonable in price, but still look really great on the wall and speaking of wall...the swords each come with a terrific wall plaque for display. BUT make sure you shop around for prices because these swords can vary as much as $100.00 from one outlet to another!!!! Here is United Cutlery's site, but you can only view the swords and information about them because you have to buy them through a wholesaler:
Here are some links to dealers and each one has great pictures to view of the swords:
I have personally purchased from Budk and By the Sword*****
Of course, you can check out Ebay because they have several listings for Lotr swords BUT be careful....some are VERY CHEAP, UNLICENSED reproductions!!!!
